Preaparation and recovery for a Brazilian butt lift surgery

Preparation:

Before the surgery can take place, Dr. Jugenburg will have to examine you to ensure that you are an ideal candidate for this surgery. You will be examined to ensure that you have sufficient useable fat. Pictures will be taken (no need to worry, your face or other identifying features are not included). If necessary, you will be sent for further medical tests and examination. Your safety is our priority and we make sure we take all the necessary steps to ensure your experience is easy and safe. When your surgery is scheduled at the Hospital, the hospital protocol requires that you are screened by the hospital nurses. You will need to make an appointment with the pre-admission clinic. Nurses will perform a basic examination (heart rate, blood pressure, blood tests if required) and go through a detailed health questionnaire. You may also meet with the anesthesia doctor if Dr. Jugenburg feels that the Anesthetist may need to make special preparations for you.
Health questionnaire and physical examination, in addition to bloodwork (if required) must be completed at least one week prior to surgery. This is to ensure that the surgery can be performed in a safe manner.

Recovery

After the Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery, you will be asked to avoid any direct pressure on your butt for two weeks. For two weeks you should not sit on your butt. You should sleep on your stomach. You can sit down for short periods of time if needed. When you do, please make sure you sit on a very very soft pillow. It is important that the fat cells that have been transferred to your butt are treated extremely gently. They have been traumatized during the liposuction and injection. They are very fragile. And they must be allowed to survive until your body establishes blood vessels in the new areas of fat. It is essential that blood flow is established to bring in nutrients, oxygen to these fat cells.

Who is a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift

Although the procedure is called Brazilian Butt Lift, what makes it great is that in addition to sculpting the buttocks, in this procedure the love handles are reshaped and create a nice curve between the butt and the waist.

The most important thing in this procedure is not to get the “biggest butt”, but to create the best looking waist-hips-butt area. When patients bring in pictures of what they want to look like, invariably the models shown have small waists and a curvy transition between the lower back and butt. The butt doesn’t have to be that large as long as that transition area has a nice looking curve. The increased contrast between the lower back and the buttock itself, as well as the curvy transition between them, enhance the appearance of the buttock.
If you then augment the buttock with fat taken from the love handles area, the results can be spectacular.

Criteria for an idela candidate:

To be an ideal candidate you need to be able to fit certain criteria
- You must be in good health
- Your expectations must be realistic. For a very large increase in butt volume you may need more than one treatments
- You must have enough useable fat. Most patients over-estimate the amount of fat that can be used. You need to remember that we cannot take all the existing fat and transfer it to your butt. Some fat needs to stay behind to ensure that the area from which the fat was taken does not look deformed. Patients often point to specific areas of fat deposits and ask for all of it to be taken away. In such a case image if an ice-cream scoop being used and removing ALL the fat. Can you picture the scooped out hole that would be left? For that reason some fat always has to be left behind.

Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery

What is the brazilian butt lift?

Over the last few years the buttocks and abdomen have received more press coverage than ever before. The brazilian butt lift is not just about big butts!. The brazilian butt lift is a type of butt augmentation procedure which results in a youthful, prominent, perky buttocks and a more sensual body profile.

People of all ages are having the butt lift procedure,   In this procedure the surgeon removes fat from selected areas of your body, purifies the fat, then reinjects selected donor fat cells into your buttocks. The process of fat reinjection involves scores or hundreds of injections. The procedure is designed to fill the upper quadrant of your buttocks so that the butt appears lifted and perky. The resulting effect is that the woman appears more attractive and sensuous.

There are two different ways to enlarge your buttocks:
- Brazilian Butt Lift: Fat injections or fat transfer to the butt
- Butt Implants: Insertion of silicone implants

Patients typically ask for a Brazilian butt lift because they feel their backside isn't round enough or it is too flat. The butt lift procedure is done by a cosmetic surgeon or board certified plastic surgeon who removes excess fat from another part of the body and places it in the buttocks to create the appearance of a more shapely back end

the butt implants is recomended for patient's who don't have sufficient adipose (fat) volume in other areas to use for buttock augmentation, the buttocks can be augmented using silicone implants.

If you have enough donor fat, surgeons prefer to augment the butt using fat injections-the brazilian butt lift. They believe that this method results in the most natural and sensual look for the buttock area. They only recommend butt implants if you are very tiny with no fat in your stomach or flank area. The fat transfer method has a lower risk of infection compared to the butt implant procedure.

An additional benefit of this fat injection method is that you not only get a more shapely buttock, but the area liposuctioned is now much leaner, giving your profile a more sensuous look. It is recomended the brazilian butt lift, as the combination of liposuction and fat injections produces the most attractive and natural profile.

Butt Implants: Styles and Sizes

Each style and size of butt implants has varying dimensions, and hence, different volumes. Again, the selection of the proper style and size buttock implant depends on the desired need, and "look" your surgeon feels is appropriate to achieve the best, most natural appearance.

Gluteal Implants, commonly referred to by consumers as buttock or butt implants, are primarily used for augmentation surgery (enlargement of the buttock region) and occasionally for reconstruction or treatment of asymmetry. The contents of this page will explain to you the general issues and concepts of implants and their use in buttock augmentation.

Gluteal (buttock) implants, are frequently placed beneath the fascia, or what is termed subfascially—beneath the fibrous lining that encases the buttock muscles. The fascia is commonly looked upon as an encasement for the muscle structure, offering lubrication and protection for the muscle fibers as they expand and contract. The implants may also be placed in the intra-muscular plane (within the muscle such as the gluteus maximus). The intra-muscular plane of insertion is commonly used when the patient is thin and has little body fat. Both implantation sites are well tolerated by the body.

Generally, buttock implants are available in 4 styles. The most common design is Style 3, a round, non-directional implant. These implants can be used in both accepted planes of insertion and provides uniform increased projection including upper pole fullness. Non-directional implants virtually eliminate the issue of implant rotation (movement or shifting). Directional implants such as Style 1 and 2, refers to the general shape of the implant, requiring a specific orientation and placement, as they are not dimensionally the same in all directions. Style1 and Style 2 provide an exceptional result when used in the sub-fascial plane to achieve a pre-cast desired symmetry, based on the artistic and aesthetic abilities of your surgeon in achieving the "look" they feel is best for your body style. Style 4, is a custom buttock implant with mirrored (left and right) sides. Your surgeon, before placement, can manually craft all soft-solid implants.

Over the past 4 years, gluteal implants have undergone significant improvements. Previously, implants used in other body areas were used as gluteal implants. Some implants were far too hard and were palpable (could be felt through the skin by others). Also, for example, breast implants were frequently used with unfortunate results. Breast implants, being gel or liquid filled, often ruptured and deflated at alarming rates. Most current implants are made out of "implant grade", soft-solid silicones and the hardness more closely matches the tissue they replace or augment. This provides a more stable implant and offers the natural feel one desires. Soft-solid implants, unlike breast implants, do not rupture and deflate.

Each Style and size of butt implant has varying dimensions, and hence, different volumes. Again, the selection of the proper style and size buttock implant depends on the desired need, and "look" your surgeon feels is appropriate to achieve the best, most natural appearance.

Custom buttock implants, unique to the individual, are also available and some surgeons, with vast experience in the implant procedure, use these buttock implants modifying them as necessary with surgical instruments such as a scalpel or scissors.

Buttocks Augmentation Contouring

A nice rounded butt is a goal shared by many who exercise countless hours on step machines or run up and down staircases. And yet, the buttock area is particularly resistant to change.

Balance is the key to a desirable end point. For the man or woman who is unable to achieve their idealized buttock shape, implants can be a solution.

The definition and contour of the buttocks is due to the size and shape of the surrounding tissues. Excess and localized fat deposits of the hips, waist, lower back and upper thighs may obscure the definition and shapely contour of the buttocks. Frequently, liposculpture of any combination of the hips, waist, low back and upper thighs is done simultaneously with buttock implants to enhance the shape and contour of the buttocks.

For those who have excess sagging of the skin or folds of the buttocks, a buttock lift from above, or a local skin excision from the crease below, may be desirable. This is usually reserved for more extreme cases with the understanding that more extensive scarring will result. Generally, these scars are easily hidden within the bikini, bathing suit or undergarment lines.

The result is a more flattering, toned butt and a sleeker thigh contour. Patients are often surprised by how much buttock lifts can significantly improve their thigh appearance as well, simply from the manual lifting of sagging skin around the buttock and hip areas.

Silicone Butt Implants

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants have been available for more than 60 years. Modern silicone implants used for Body Contouring enhancement are soft, flexible and durable - safe and reliable. Silicone has come under fire since the early 1990's because of the silicone gel used in breast implants which was alleged to have caused autoimmune disease in some women. Highly controlled studies since that period have proven that silicone does not cause disease of any kind. Body Contouring Implants are made of solid silicone - soft but still solid without the controversial characteristics of silicone gel. Solid silicone has never been alleged to cause any disease in the human body.

Plastic Surgery Implants are made of the same silicone that surrounds many cardiac pacemakers. Most joint replacement parts are made with either solid silicone or coated with silicone to reduce the body reaction to the replacement part. No problems have ever been attributed to the silicone of these implants which is identical to the silicone of Plastic Surgery Implants.

Research has produced the current implants for body augmentation which are now soft and pliable and approach the same consistency as the tissue into which the implants are placed.

Silicone is available in many forms ranging from a liquid similar to water on through firmer consistencies that may be as firm as bone. Because of this ability to form a range of densities, and silicone's minimal tissue reaction, silicone implants are able to be used as static replacements for tissue deficiencies in many areas of the body. Almost everyone is familiar with breast implants used to augment women's breasts. These implants (which were the first silicone implants available for commercial use) were developed to mimic the consistency of fat in the female breast and were first made with silicone gel. Body contouring implants are solid silicone implants that have gradually been developed to the consistency of muscle tissue for which most of the implants are designed to augment.

Gluteal Implants Information

Buttock Implants (Gluteoplasty)

Many men and women are dissatisfied with the size, shape and contour of their buttocks. Underprojected, flat and/or sagging buttocks do not fit their ideal self-image. Body-image is an important part of feeling good, desirable and confident. For many, this surgical procedure can dramatically affect the quest for a beautiful body.

Cosmetic surgery, specifically the use of Gluteal Implants, is an option which patients are using to add size and shape to their physique when the traditional methods of weightlifting, exercise and diet do not or cannot produce the desired results. People are turning to the use of specially designed implants to achieve shape and definition when genetics or other conditions prevent them from attaining the physical appearance they desire. The information provided here will supply you with the knowledge and resources available - information you should know before making your decision regarding these procedures, alternatives to using implants, help in locating a physician, and other resources you may need.

Gluteal Implants Information

Gluteal or buttock implants are used to fill out the buttock area, specifically to augment the gluteus maximus muscle area producing a more desirable shape to the glutes. The shape of the buttocks is determined by the fullness of the gluteus maximus, the gluteus medius and minimus muscles plus the angle of the lumbosacral curve at the base of the spine. Deficiency in muscle mass or in the angle of the curve of the lower spine can contribute to lack of adequate projection of the butt. Additionally, the buttocks are an area that retains some body fat which contributes to the prominence of the buttock cheeks. Frequently in their zeal for minimal body fat, many physically active people will loose the fat of the gluteal areas and find that the projection of the buttocks decreases due to this. It's a catch 22 situation.

Buttock implants, also known as gluteal augmentation, gluteal implants or gluteoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to add fullness and projection to the underprojected or flat buttock area. This procedure involves inserting a soft, high grade, solid silicone, implant into the muscular space of the buttock area. To the touch, it has the feeling and consistency of a flexed muscle. Unlike breast augmentation, after this procedure is properly completed and healed, there is no reason to require additional surgery. These implants can be round or oval and come in a variety of sizes. A consultation and physical exam is needed to determine the appropriate size and shape for individuals.

Buttock Augmentation by implants

Description
the buttock augmentation is a surgical insertion of artificial implants into the buttock in order to enhance their size and shape. This surgery is frequently sought by women who are unhappy with the size of their buttocks. Some feel their buttocks lack shape, while others want to have a more sensuous backside by making them larger and rounder. Singer/Actress Jennifer Lopez is probably the biggest reason why women have been seeking plastic surgeons to enhance their buttocks and causing a rise in the number of butt implants procedures performed.

Who is a good candidate for a butt augmentation by implants?

A good candidate for a buttock implant surgery is a patients who:
- Do not have enough extra body fat available to use for Micro Fat Grafting
- Only want extra fullness in the upper part of the buttocks
- Want a lot of extra fullness, more than the fat available.

What can I expect after butt implants?

You will have a compression garment on after surgery to provide support, which should not be removed for the next few days following butt implants surgery. It is important to take the medication prescribed to you by your doctor. Someone will need to drive you home, and you may need assistance at home over the next couple of days. Expect to be in bed for the next 24 hours following surgery.

Side Effects
Patients must avoid sitting on the buttocks while healing from surgery. With so much stress regularly placed on this area, patients may experience great pain during the recovery period.

Recovery
Pain, bruising and some discomfort may occur. Buttock implant patients will not be able to lie on their backs for about 2 weeks. Most surgeons recommend wearing a compression garment to hold down swelling. Back to work: 2 weeks.

Risks
Bleeding, infection, nerve and muscle damage. Butt implants can shift and make one buttock different than the other. Other risks include adverse reaction to anesthesia, and the need for a second, or sometimes third, procedure. Risks of infection are higher when incisions are made near the rectal area.

Technology
A surgeon places the patient on his or her stomach, makes incisions where the buttock meet the upper leg or in the crease near the anus. A pocket is created in the buttocks, where the doctor shapes the implant to the patient’s body, or inserts the fat tissue.
